History of Downtown Moultrie Buildings

Downtown Moultrie is often called the heart of Colquitt County. It is a hub where people gather and have done so for generations. But it didn’t always look like it does today. In the early 1900s, the streets were still dirt, and the first brick buildings were just being built. As the years passed, buildings were torn down and replaced, streets were paved, and our beloved town started to take shape. If you’ve ever wondered what came before, you’re in the right place. Click the photos below to learn more about the history of each building.

The Moultrie Town Committee of NSCDA-GA in partnership with the Downtown Moultrie Welcome Center are working to document the history of our downtown buildings as part of America’s 250th birthday.  This is an ongoing project and will be updated as new information becomes available.
