Amy Johnson wins Starr Award

27 Jun, 2023
Downtown Development and Public Relations Director Amy Johnson is back in Moultrie after receiving the Starr Award in Savannah, Georgia, on Monday. She was shocked when she was announced as the winner, and a video highlighting all of her accomplishments was played for a crowd of more than one thousand people at the Georgia Municipal Association Conference.
Amy makes magic happen for other people every day. For more than 20 years, every Thanksgiving, you wouldn’t find her cooking a huge meal. Instead, she was downtown making sure everything was perfect and in order for the crowds of people who would show up for Lights! Lights! Thanksgiving Night! In 2020 Johnson spent weeks meticulously putting paperwork together so Downtown Moultrie could be named a rural zone. Since that time, approximately two million dollars have been claimed in Georgia state rural zone tax credits. Johnson has had a hand in multiple downtown enhancement projects, the largest of which, the Theatre Block Renovation, is currently underway.
We are incredibly proud of her and all of the work she has done for Downtown Moultrie.
